Considerations to Make Before Adopting a Pet
Adopting a pet requires commitment and patience. Your decision to adopt a pet should be well thought out. Considerations should include type of pet, size of pet, your schedule, age of your children, whether you have a fenced yard or a kennel, financial stability, and where you plan to be in five, 10, or even 15 years.

Adoption Regulations

In an effort to halt the overpopulation of unwanted pets, the Laramie Animal Shelter requires the sterilization of all adopted animals. The City of Laramie Animal Shelter does not guarantee the health or temperament of any animal adopted or redeemed from our facility.

Educational programs are available for all ages. Please contact us for more information. For information on housebreaking, crate training, and other pet behavioral issues we suggest utilizing the Denver Dumb Friends League website.

Note: All of the adoptable animals that we have at the shelter are pictured on the Laramie pet adoption website. In addition, you can find information on found animals, shelter operations, hours, and location. We urge you to visit us and meet everyone that is available!

Protecting Native Wildlife

For the welfare of both cats and native wildlife - especially songbirds - the Laramie Animal Shelter staff strongly urges that cats be kept indoors. For more information check out the American Bird Conservancy website.
